THE EVOLUTION OF CROSSFIT OUTER BANKS

Chiropractor/Coach Gene Flynn started OBX Weightlifting Club (OBXWC) in 2001 needing a place to train with Kettlebells and learn the Olympic lifts. After being asked to leave the conventional “designer” gyms in the area he decided to find a warehouse and do his training there. Coach Flynn then decided to train and coach local Athletes of all ages Olympic Weightlifting and Strength techniques. He is known in the Olympic Weightlifting community as having produced National Champions and USA International team members, as well as winning National Championships in Weightlifting and Scottish Highland Games.

Gene met Tracey Maurice, an x-gymnast, tri-athlete, and volleyball competitor through his chiropractic office. Over the years they not only became best friends but Gene trained Tracey to compete at the National level as a Ms. Fitness competitor. He also took her in as his apprentice for his strength and conditioning program where he introduced her to a new workout program sweeping the nation called CrossFit. She took to it like a duck on a pond and became a Certified Instructor as soon as possible. In 2008, they decided to combine their efforts and programs to create what has beautifully evolved into OBX Weightlifting and CrossFit Outer Banks. In May of 2010, Tracey became the sole owner so that Gene could train abroad, compete Pro and work to accomplish his dream of winning the World Masters Highland Games!

CrossFit Outer Banks and OBX Weightlifting Club are located at 906 S. Croatan Hwy, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948. The gym may not be fancy or “traditional” but has proven to be the top strength and conditioning program in a 100 mile radius as well as unbeaten results for housewives and pro-athletes alike!!

CLASS SCHEDULE

CrossFit
All CrossFit Training classes last approximately 1 hour. Classes are instructor-led and peer-driven, providing an excellent mixture of coaching and group motivation. The group dynamic is fun, motivating, and sometimes competitive. We recommend attending at least 3 classes per week for maximum results.
Warning: The way CrossFit makes you look and feel is addictive! The first class is free because we know you will be back for more!

MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY: Beginner 8:30 AM, Advanced 5:00 PM, Intermediate 6:00 PM and Beginner 7:00 PM

TUESDAY & THURSDAY Beginner 8:30AM,  5:00PM, 6:00PM and 7:00PM

SATURDAY 9:30am
